Public Safety
When we keep our kids in school we keep them out of trouble. There is a direct correlation between violence and kids skipping school. As Chair of the Judiciary Committee, Brad developed strategies to deal with school attendance and reduce gun violence. Brad has also provided law enforcement tools to intervene with troubled youth. At the end of the day, keeping our streets, schools, and neighborhoods safer will take a community effort, an effort that is crucial to the future success of our young people.
No mayoral candidate has more experience in or made more contributions to public safety than Brad Ashford.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work with Brad Ashford in areas of juvenile crime and education. He has been a tremendous asset for county attorneys and law enforcement across the state.”
- Don Kleine, Douglas County Attorney
“Brad Ashford will bring 25 years of experience fighting to make our community safer to the mayor’s office. He understands that violent crime is not a simple problem and there are no simple solutions. Brad will be able to provide the leadership and experience necessary to solve Omaha’s crime problems.”
- Tim Dempsey, Former Elkhorn Chief of Police
“Over the years I have had many opportunities to work Brad on legislative issues of all sorts. He has always been prepared, respectful, and open minded. In particular, there have occasions where I disagreed with him and testified in opposition. To my surprise, he was anxious to consider opposing views, and willing to change legislation where it was needed. His goal was to always have the best legislation possible.”
- Marty Conboy, Former City Prosecutor
